Just imagine snuggling under the sheets during those chilly nights or just lounging around during the day. Your bed is indeed the place that you want to be in especially after a long and tiring day. This is where you will always retreat to just to get back all the energy that you lost and recharge for the coming days ahead. But how can you make sure that your bed serves its purpose? Well, you need to make sure that it remains in top-notched condition. One great way to do that is to check all of its components starting with its very foundation, the bed frames.

Brief Description

Bed frames or bedsteads as they are sometimes called are the material that serves as the foundation of your bed or the very skeleton that supports the mattress and elevates it off the ground. A lot of people think that the frames are only for decorative purposes alone and that beds can be used without it. Though this may be true, it is still not advisable to place your mattress on the floor for reasons like hygiene, convenience, as well as aesthetic purposes. This is really one bedroom essential that will provide you with utmost comfort and convenience.

Different Types of Frames

There are different types of bed frames depending on the style and the material that was used.  To understand more clearly, here are some examples:

* Wooden bed frames

Perhaps the most basic type of frames are those that are made from wood. Even back in the day, wood was already a primary material in fashioning the frames. However, not all types of wood can be used to make bed frames as durability is the number one priority. Whether it’s for single bed frames or double bed frames, wood pieces should be strong enough to sustain weight while being easy to maintain so that it can be used for a long time. Some of the common wood types used are pine, oak, and cherry as these are the materials that guarantee longer lifespan.

* Metal bed frames

Through the years, makers started using other materials on their products like metal. Frames that were made from this type of material are said to be sturdier and easier to maintain  compared to wood. Metal frames also give off a more modern look which is why it is great for modern type homes.

* Platform beds

This type of bed is ideal if one prefers to have extra storage underneath since platform frames for beds often have built-in drawers. It is ideal for small room spaces because the built-in drawers can serve as extra cabinet space for keeping the sheets, pillow cases, and other bedroom accessories.

* Trundle beds

On the other hand, trundle beds are ideal if a bed is shared by two people. This type of frame has a pull out bed frame underneath the upper bunk that can house another mattress and serve as an extra bed.
